Consequences of not cleaning grease traps

The negative consequences of not cleaning grease traps. This can lead to the accumulation of bad odors and, in some cases, result in fines for non-compliance with regulations.

Local Government Guidelines

Local municipalities are federally mandated to reduce sewer overflows, so each LGA (Local Governing Authority) has specific requirements for grease traps in order to reduce back-ups. Typically, indoor grease traps should be serviced every 30-90 days. Outdoor grease traps should be serviced after a maximum of 90 days. Check with your LGA to verify your facility’s requirements.
